It’s a Holly Jolly Christmas

We don’t know if there will be snow but it is in the forecast.  At least a little of it is the forecast but considering the percentage of accuracy in weather reporting, we really have no clue if we will really see snow or not.   Not sure what Santa will do without the snow but we know he’s also very creative.

A weather alert was issued for this area with high winds and gusts to 65 mph.  This time they were fairly accurate.  Trees and limbs were everywhere including across electric lines, houses and cabins.   

It’s just what SW Washington needed after the record flood that hit it last week.  The ground was already soaked and a little bit of wind scooted some of those trees right out of the ground.  We got the news Monday night that our little recreation cabin was safe but many others in the area weren’t so we made a trip to check it out.  The area isn’t “out of the woods” yet as more rain is expected but the winds have headed on east.  Actually, with the elevation at about 1400 feet it was snow that arrived the very next day and lots of it.  Glad we went Tuesday because we might not have been able to make it on Wednesday.  

We may have been lucky but others weren’t quite so lucky.

And then, there was the spa.  We weren't sure what happened there ?? 

The deer were overjoyed to see us.  They were all covered in their heavy winter coats. 

This particular doe wouldn’t take “no” from Sandi about sharing a snack.  She insisted she get just one little nibble. 

Some deer just ignored us.

We also made a trip to the Woodburn outlet mall which is huge and just south of Portland.  We were in and out in about an hour because we were early and the crowds hadn't yet arrived.    I think that was a record.

Christmas is just around the corner.  Our shopping is done, our gifts are kinda wrapped and we’re finally ready for the big day.  

With icy conditions expected, getting to the airport may be a challenge.  We're on the same flight as Sandi in the wee hours of the morning so it's just one trip to the airport and hopefully that's before the real slick stuff shows up.   First, we're off to Dallas on a red eye and then to Fort Myers. If that doesn't work, Miami is a great alternative.

Today is Christmas Eve and the festivities are just starting to get in full steam.

Yes, that's me!  I was an Angel at the manger! 

We've elected to do the early Christmas Eve service and proud that Sandi is dressed up and ready to go with us.
