The day started just like every other Disney day. We stopped by McDonalds for our regular Egg McMuffin. Breakfast is much cheaper there than at one of the Disney restaurants. Besides that, it’s much
faster.

From McDonalds it was off to the Magic Kingdom. On the other days we’d visited Epcot and Hollywood Studios. This was the real thing. This was Mickey’s territory and we had our FastPass selections already booked.

It started on the monorail. Unlike Disneyland, we had to take the monorail from the parking lot to get into the park. From there it was getting through the Main Street crowds to our first attraction. Big Thunder Mountain is one of our favorites and the FastPass selections were full for the day but we still wanted to ride. Thank goodness it was only a 30 minute wait. And, from there it was almost next door to Splash Mountain. We felt we were on a roll. We were!

All in all it was a good day. We actually got to ride 8 rides and never stood in line over half an hour at any of them. Now I call that good. We still had plenty of people to fight and crowds to maneuver through. We love the Magic Kingdom. It’s our favorite park but the crowds ---- well, not so much. Some of the rides at Disney World are the same as those at Disneyland. Some we liked better and some not as much.

We still have one more day left on our 4-day park hopper pass. Originally, we thought we’d finish up on Tuesday. However, that plan has been changed. We’ll do it after Thanksgiving. We’re hoping the crowds go down a bit.

So, on Tuesday we took a break. We actually challenged the Hyders to a match of ping pong and pickle ball. They were so afraid we’d beat them I guess that they didn’t show up. At least that’s the way I’m going to tell the story. They may have another version. In the meantime, they asked for a rematch.
We also got the Christmas packages we had purchased ready for shipping. It’s not that we have all of that behind us but at least box number one is ready to ship.

Other than beautiful beaches there is something else that Florida has that Arizona doesn’t have. The state is loaded with biting mosquitos and no-see’ums. I love what we’ve seen and I love what we’ve done but I hate all the bugs and the bites. I just hope I make it through the whole winter!

We’ve been busy sampling another thing Florida is famous for and that’s their key lime pie. We’re looking for the best in Florida. Where is it?

‘Tis life on the road.
I've been told that January and February are much better months for no bugs so I have my fingers crossed for you guys. I really love that AZ doesn't have the bugs. We went to Disney World when Todd was a teenager and it was packed way back then. We really liked Universal Studios better.
ReplyDeleteNo bugs is definitely a good thing.
DeleteI am tired just thinking about doing all that:)
ReplyDeleteWe were tired doing!
DeleteMy favorite Key Lime Pie was sold as whole pies at every Publix store. There were a couple of lime slices on top of each pie. We had some other KLPs before we found the Publix version, but not many after because we were so happy with this more-reasonably-priced alternative.
ReplyDeleteYou see, that is Disney's brilliant marketing "strategery". You get so tired walking around, standing in line and fighting the crowds that you don't realize how much money they got out of your pocket. :cD
DeleteJust can't wait to get there again and have my wallet vacuumed. We always feel that being there spending time with the grandkids is worth more than money spent. :c)
Thanks, Craig. I never thought about buying a pie at Publix but will do that tomorrow!
DeleteIt's like being behind security at the airport. Your wallet has no place else to spend. Even water is close to $3 a bottle!
DeleteThanks for the photos. Brings back memories of being there with the kids.
ReplyDeleteWhen you get to Key West, be sure to sample the key lime pie at Key Lime Republic. Dubbed the original key lime pie. It was very good.
What is with the Hyers? Chicken?
Chicken? You said it. I didn't. :)
DeleteBest Key Lime pie I made it myself, pretty easy actually.
ReplyDeleteDisney was there once years ago.Crowds don't work for us so probably never again. will enjoy your pic though.
Ok, you have till Sunday to get rid of the bugs. LOL

If you stay on or near the shores of the Atlantic, all the way through the keys, very seldom are bugs a problem. After dark some areas are still afflicted. However, inland from there is miserable. The West coast of Gulf areas are just as bad also. We were in Florida twice in the Winter for many years. Yes, on average its warmer, but there are far more sunshine days in the Southwest. Low humidity is no breeding ground for insects, so waving your hands at your face to shoo away the bugs isn't something you need to do. Also, the air quality is much better. When I used to go to Ft Lauderdale all the way to Key West in Dec or Jan, the rainy loudy skies coupled with the heavy fumes from the influx of snowbird autos made breathing difficult for me. After a day walking around town, my. Clothes reeked of exhaust. The only escape form the fumes being inside or near the beach.

ReplyDeleteFunny to see the Jungle ride way "over there", but I suppose it makes sense to duplicate as many will only ever see one park. It was always our tradition to make that our first ride. 30 mins sounds pretty good for the lines - those strollers are crazy! Hope the little ones in all of those are old enough to remember being there. Bugs love me but the feeling is not mutual, not sure I'd last too long :-(
ReplyDeleteThe Jungle is different at this park. It's a little better and a little longer. However, all the rest of them we preferred the Disneyland verions.
DeleteI plain out love Disney rides and I don't even mind crowds but bugs....
ReplyDeleteI HATE the bugs.
DeleteSmart to eat breakfast at McD's after you arrive to help keep you from needing more expensive food quite so early. McDonald's McGriddle sandwich is one of my favorite treats. Good thing I haven't been there since they started serving breakfast all day.
ReplyDeleteWe'd rather spend $3 for breakfast than $10 for pretty much the same thing. Terry likes the restaurants that serve breakfast all day too. :(
DeleteIt's years ago that Bea returned from a professional visit at Disney Land. Bea was a travel agent at the time. She was so excited telling me that Disney Land kind of turned her into a kid when walking all over it.
