We had to go there. We just had to. Jim and Sandie invited us to join them at the Organ Stop Pizza. So, we did. However, they went Sunday night and after reading their comments, we went tonight .. Monday. So, we kind of joined them.
This place is phenomenal, just phenomenal. Sure a pipe organ is the center of attention but if you didn't see it, you would think a whole band or orchestra was actually playing. A pipe organ isn't the same as a regular organ and a theatre organ isn't the same as a church organ. (However, have to admit again ... the church I grew up in had a huge pipe organ.) The pipes are tremendous and literally encircle the huge seating area including the balcony. At one point trumpets started playing and the pipes were just abo
ve our head. It wasn't really trumpets. It was still the magnificent organ. The organ controlled the whole kit and caboodle including the drums and symbols in amazing stereo. There are over 6,000 pipes that make up this "Magnificent Wurlitzer", the largest Wurlitzer theatre organ in the world.! It was truly amazing. The organist took requests and played them as well as favorites we all knew and loved. Lights flashed, pipes played, the US flag came down and even bubbles floated around. Again, this place is phenomenal.
<---trumpet pipes on the balcony.
Pizza? Oh yeah .. we had pizza. The pizza was very good and the price for a medium pizza loaded with whatever you ordered was only $14.39 ... including tax. It could easily have been more considering the fantastic entertainment at this place.
We actually hadn't counted on such an entertaining place. I must say that Sandie grossly under-described this place. (Yes, you did, Sandie!) We had already gone to a couple stores and still needed to go grocery shopping. Duchess was back at the motorhome so we didn't have a lot of time to spare. Next time we will. And, there will definitely
be a next time.Put it on your "must do" list. It is worth it. Music starts at 4:30 pm so plan on showing up early and enjoy the show. Remember, this is a pizza joint ... if you can call it that! Well, spaghetti and such plus salads are on the menu too.
After grocery shopping , we viewed the most amazing sunset from Safeway's parking lot. We know many more gorgeous sunsets will be in store for us at "Q" . We enjoyed many of them in 2009 so know we'll enjoy them again in 2010.
