More Campfires and Games

"Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please. " - Mark Twain

There were six of us that opted for the early morning walk on Tuesday. We walked for about an hour-ish. The getting up is easy. It's the getting dressed and getting out the door that is the most difficult. I guess we spoil ourselves and, of course, we should.

Sandie had planned a luncheon for her group at Mister Lemonade yesterday so that was where we spent lunch again. Remember - this is the place with the fabulous french fries. I said her group because five of us are the party crashers and just begged to be included. She allowed us to ... if you can call it that. We kind of crashed on our own. Only eight folks showed up for lunch . ... one lady was sick but don't think Sandie knew the others weren't coming even though she had made arrangements, put it on the schedule and made sure they were all aware of it. She has put in a tremendous amount of work organizing her group and making sure all of them have a good time. Kudos to you, Sandie and Jim, for taking your time, your money and effort to arrange the events for everyone. You have gone way out of your way. And, we certainly appreciate you.

The Lavins pulled in next to us today. The last time we had seen them was when Ed and I were clearing out the Columbia River of all those salmon that were supposed to be running in April. We had a great time with them then and know we'll certainly enjoy each other over the next couple of weeks. It would have been better had we caught some fish but the fish waited to bite until Ed left.

The campfires are always the thing that brings the group together. Without a campfire, gatherings in the BLM would be missing a lot. Lee builds a fantastic one every night and we all sit around and enjoy it telling stories, embellishing the truth or just listening. Most of the folks have chipped in on the firewood. We certainly appreciate that too. Last night Toni was in charge of seeing that the embellishing was noted 'cuz everyone was called on their lies. She did a great job keeping the conversation focused and moving.

We had some great stories and some of the folks here are real hoots. Down the road I'll introduce you to Joyce and her stories. (I wonder if this'll worry her. She reads the blog.) She's a New Yorker. Need I say more?

Unlike our group last year, most of these folks have pe
ts. We even have a cat on a leash! Now, that's responsible pet owners! We also have a couple with a fabulous dog. We couldn't believe the dog's sleeping quarters are in the bay of their 5th wheel! More on that later too ' cuz I want to introduce you all to our pets! Oh ... there's much more coming. We now have 12 RV's here with folks from Michigan, Tennessee, Rhode Island, Virginia, Montana, Georgia, Canada, Washington, Texas .... and the list goes on.

Today was just another perfect day. Weather was great, company fantastic and more fun times ahead with dinner at the Grubstake planned for this evening. We hope folks RSVP to Sandie. Stay tuned.

Happy Birthday, Karla.

Life is good.
